Intereting 486DX2-66

I bought a lot of old cpu from ebay and found that one of them is a strange 486DX2-66.

Here is the information:
Front:
A80486DX2-66
L5154088 {front FPO Number}
&E5VIX SX911
INTEL (M) © ‘89’92

Back:
8404312FAC {back FPO number}
MALAY
EX 416 {I name it Verification Code }
INTEL (M) © 89 92

I feel interesting because of its

1) Unmatched cpu code:
I believe that most Intel cpu follow this rules:
Let
Front FPO Number = PYWWLLLL & Back FPO Number = PABBxxxZZZ
Verification Code = VCC or CC if it is two digits (
Then
ABB should be equal or less than YWW AND
VCC should be equal to (in most case) or less than YWW
In case of less than, it usually within 2 months.

But this interesting DX2 doesn’t follow this rule as its Verification Code (i.e. 416) is much much less than the YWW (515).

2) Abnormal gold plate:
Its gold plate looks like DX4-100 rather than normal DX2-66. (I have another DX2-66 CPU with the same Spec Code (SX911), its gold plate is normal rectangle size.
Would someone tell me is it a remark CPU or something else?

Thanks

Billy

could very well have been a 100 that was downgraded to 66 to fill a contract.

Though most all 100s were 3V

I add another "remark" A80486DX2-66

to http://hk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bccwchan/my_photos

I bought it from a repair shop in HONG KONG for HKD10 (approx. USD1.3) as it's really cheap. I found that it's very unusual as its text is not printed by laser but a black ink. Besides, the surface of the cpu is covered by a very thin material so I believe it's a remark cpu.

I'm not sure whether it's remark or not.

Does anyone has any comment?

It is a fake CPU
I've seen fake Pentium and Pentium Pro using such techniques to remark

It's possible your first DX2-66 is a remarked AMD DX2-66. This would explain poor quality of laser markings, the size of the gold plate on the back and unusual markings on the back.

As for the second DX2-66 I agree with x86sniper - it's a fake, no doubt about it.

Today I try to find out the answer by measuring the golden plate size.

The plate size of the interesting DX2-66 is 1.9cm long and 1.9cm width which exactly the same as a AMD DX2-66. (The standard plate size of normal Intel DX4-100 is 2cm long and 2 cm width). Please refer to the photos RM_01-04 at
http://hk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bccwchan/my_photos

I therefore believe that my DX2-66 is an remarked CPU made by a AMD DX2-66.

John/Genna,

Thank for your help to identify my cpu. Now I know what it is.
