hi folks,
i received a strange 486 from a retired Intel member. the sticker
says 486, but it has 4 rows??
has anyone ever seen somthing similar?

| It almost looks like a pentium overdrive socket, but it's not missing the pins in the corner like it's supposed to be, and it's labeled as a 486.... I'd be curious to see the top without the heatsink. Weird.... |

I'm unaware of any x86 processor with 208 pins. I would just remove the heatsink, it's more like an OEM cooler than a regular Intel one, so shouldn't affect the value. _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

Yeah, that is the same package. Dates are 21 months apart, so it will be interesting to see if it's an earlier version of the same model  _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

i was afraid to crack the chip, but I was able to remove the heatsink. we all expected something on the chip. well, there is nothing, only some
hand written letters exactly under the really hard glue:
something like " CYC AT ICE " or like that
its hard to identify.
