Did anyone see that grey C4003 I bought a couple of months ago? I paid over $1,000 for it and wouldn't you know, the very next week one shows up on Ebay and goes for a little over $200.
I wanted to bid on the chip so bad but the seller has me banned from bidding on his auctions. That, and I knew the guy who had the bid and I usually don’t bid against people I do allot of trading with, especially if I already have the chip.
Turns out that it was a good thing I didn’t bid as the chips was supposedly lost in the mail. Can you imagine paying $200 for a chip that you just seen sale for over $1000 and then the guy claiming it got lost in the mail?
You really got to watch who you buy from now days!

Yep, I was really looking forward to adding that chip to my collection.
I may never see another one.
The aggravating this is that the USPS delivery confirmation showed that the chip was delivered "somewhere". Whoever got it probably tossed
it in the trash.
The seller refunded the full price paid.
I actually felt kind of bad because I think the seller made a legitimate
attempt to get me the chip. I actually refunded 1/2 the purchase price back to the seller because I think he tried to get me the chip. Next time I will specifically ASK for USPS insured signature required.
The moral of this story is BEWARE of delivery confirmation. It's worthless.
The package was insured but not thru the USPS and I have a sneaky feeling that the USPS does not like the competition for USPS insured
packages. I wonder if the package might have been stuck in the wrong
mailbox on purpose (it was returned on the 1st attempt to deliver and lost on the 2nd).
It seems like everytime I'm in our local post office there's a 30-40 minute wait and the postal workers say they are so understaffed because of all the money the post office is loosing because of competition from email, UPS, etc.
In general, I don't have any problems with the mail here. This was the first package of many that has been lost. I did have one package from
a different seller in Canada last year that arrived crushed with a TIRE TRACK imprinted across the package. The pins on the chip actually had come thru the outside of the padded envelop and were belt over like staples and the ceramic package on the 40pin dip was cracked in half. |
