Hi, I have a laptop with an intel core i5-430m installed, reading the specs and doing some research I came up with two eligible upgrades:
the intel i7-640m and the intel i7-840qm
I want to upgrade my laptop which I use for audio production: I want to have less latency.
Which will perform best in your opinion?
Another info: at the moment my laptop uses 4gig of ddr3-1333 ram, but due to the i5-430m the ram speed is limited to 1066...installing an i7-840qm should unlock the ram to 1333 (which is supported by the motherboard) |

If your software can use more than 4 threads, the 840QM will be better, otherwise the faster cores in the 640M will be better for you.

my audio software officially supports multi cores, so it should perform better with the 840qm which is a quad-core instead of the 640m which is a dual core?
Even if the 840qm is slower? |
