Powered by a 400MIPS RAD750 processor the Curiosity rover has successfully landed on mars
The landing sequence alone required six vehicle configurations, 76 pyrotechnic devices, the largest supersonic parachute ever built, and more than 500,000 lines of code. 13,000mph to 0 in 7 minutes, all autonomous.
13.8 minute time delay for signalling lol _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

Yea its going to take true color pictures as well, first time for humans to see it as it is from what I understand. No filters or anything used in the photography. _________________ "The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once." A.E. |

That was an awesome achievement. Pretty hard to imagine everything going so well given the complexity, how far away it is and the fact you can't just fix things in real time _________________ My former Intel collection:

Thanks for the great pics, John.
Is there a pic somewhere of the 400MIPS RAD750 processor that powers the Rover? _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html |

"The RAD750 system has a price that is comparable to the RAD6000 which is US$200,000 per board (per 2002 reference)."
anybody wants to do a group buy? CPUShack? Perhaps we get a deal if we take a few dozen |

Yeah, I'm sure as a group buy we could get the price down to $10 per board
I'd be in for 10 |
