Hi Guys,
needing a little help IDing these ICs after googling around didnt yeild anything, the board is from an old mid 80's car ecu, around the MP4400 (picture 1) there is some UV erasable PROM, 8KB of SRAM and a 74373 so im guessing that is the Brains of the operation, weather its a micro-controller executing its program from external prom only im usure as it could aswell be a general purpose microprocessor, above it is an ADC IC that is interfaced to its bus(s). on the top printed ND MP4400 im guessing this is a Denso repack of some popular core around the mid 80's maby 6800?? or 8051?
The second pic (below) MP4480 im unsure of what it is aswell it doesn't interface to much that i can see. just a 4000 series ripple counter and another octal buffer.
any help would be much appreciated. |

| I found references linking the MP4480 to the Texas Instruments TMS1000NLC, which is a 4-bit MPU, as well as a picture of a TMS1000NLC bearing the MP4480 part number as well. It'd make sense that a car ECM would use this kind of MPU in the 80's, since most ECM's back then were very basic and didn't need much processing power. You saw a lot of them in that era using Motorola 68000's also. |

Yeah, i know what the board is out of, its an RX7 Series 5 1990 Model, the RX7 Series 4 and 5 were made from 1986 (and all had similar ecus) but as you can imagine development on them probably started years earlier. googling the part number on the board etc etc doesnt tell much either

Yea TMS1000 sounds good for the MP4480 as it doesnt have anything around it i.e. RAM or ROM so it could well be the TMS1000 MPU version in a 40 DIP package. but i still cant find anything on the MP4400.. i would say this is an 8 bit system o nthis side of the board as it wouldnt make sense to have 32K x 8bit PROM (27C256) and another 8K x 8 SRAM if it was a (another) 4bit system and have external RAM/PROM.
