A few months ago i have had a problem with my computer Stuttering sounds and images and my cpu would sporadically raise and shoot up when the stuttering occurred. I had downloaded speed fan in order to see the temperature and overview what the cores were doing.

Above is a link where i had brought this situation to windows7 forum.
(Cant post link as guest, but if u type in "Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz (8 CPUs) stutters" into google, the forum post should be the 3rd link.

At first i thought the problem was itunes , because when i turned it on my cpu would shoot up to 40-50% usage. i had researched and found out i had to type a code in the cmd prompt and now it only uses 30% and the stuttering usually never happens unless im playing a video game and i have facebook up or other big processes. (So itunes cannot be the problem)

I dont understand why my computer has 8 cores yet it only uses 2, and it switches between 2 of the 8 cores.

Any possible explanation or solution for this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for talking your time reading this

Sorry for the double post, couldn't find an edit button. i'm currently running speedfan, and Microsoft word, disk defrag, mozilla, itunes and McAfee are the major rograms running and i have 3-5 cores running, but 2 of them are running at 100% while the other 2 or 3 run at such a low rate and the other 3 are just empty and not helping out. how can i relieve the pressure being done to the cores?
