I am interested in writing a little VB App which would contain some functionality of identifying the current CPU, and from that I would like to pull down the data for the identified CPU and display it in the app, along with maybe the description of the processor family. ie using the T3200 CPU as an example, I would like to retrieve the data from these pages :

h t t p:// w w w .cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentium_Dual-Core/Intel-Pentium%20Dual-Core%20Mobile%20T3200%20LF80537GF0411M.html

h t t p://w w w .cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentium_Dual-Core/index.html

I realize I could probably make HTML links and just link to the pages required, but would really like to display the data natively in the app.

Is there any way of doing this, or is it against the ToS of using the site ?

Any help appreciated.

To do this, you will need to scrap lot of data from the site, which will be against the TOS. Is this app for internal use within company or school, or do you plan to release it?

Ok, so I have now registered Very Happy

It's more just a hobby. I fix PC's in my spare time, and I want to write an application which details the work done, plus a summary of the machine. As part of machine summary, I would like some details about the CPU that is identified, and also a description about the CPU family. (It's handy information to have when you are not familiar with EVERY cpu in existence!)

Ideally I would like to expand it (in time) to allow me to suggest possible CPU upgrades, allow me to easily compare specs of the identified cpu in the machine against other's for the sake of comparing features and making an informed decision on upgrade routes/cost's, would also like a way to more easily identify where a specific CPU sits in the company's cpu hierarchy (ie grouping by release date (2011) + processor core name (Sandy Bridge) + processor family (Core i7 / i5) + Processor name (Core i7 3770K)), so I could essentially create a table for a specific cpu / family etc... like the following ...

From a table like the above, I find it so much easier to quickly see at a glance where a cpu is relative to it's other parts.

Would also like to be able to click on the architecture for a processor core name (eg. Sandy Bridge), and this would give me a brief description of what this introduced, ie. was it a tick or tock release, if it was an architecture change, then what where the highlight's of that change etc...

I dont want to come across as rude, but I find that CPU World has a wealth of information, but sometimes trying to decipher data into something that is understandable seems to be a lot more difficult than it should be.

@JimmyBoy - just for your information: the forum user "gshv" is the owner and creator of this site.

If he says that your intended use of the data is against the Terms and Conditions of CPU-World, then it's an official refusal.

Yes I did realise that mate. Was just explaining what I wanted to do as he asked what the intended purpose was.
