I am having a slight problem with my processor that has never been a problem before. My CPU has been overheating like a son of a gun which just started happening about 2 weeks ago. I built my system:
ASUS A7v600 motherboard
1 Gig DDR RAM
Athlon XP 3200+ (2.2 GHz)
200 GB harddrive
Radeon 9800 pro 256Mb
600 watt power supply
I have 8 fans within my case and a volcano 10 heatsink on the processor. I think it may be a hardware issue but I really can't afford to replace the parts (at least not now). Does anyone have any ideas on how to remedy this problem? It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks |

Check VCore in BIOS. Maybe you have configured to much. Some of temp detectors says false ! Showing 65 degrees when in the fact is about 45 Please feel temperature manual by touch with your finger. You will feel if heatsink is to hot _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

Thanks Marcin for the reply. I will check VCore in the BIOS. I have manually tested the heatsink and it is burning up...so I don't know what could be causing such a high temperature. My system also crashes if I am using too much CPU power for a long period of time (i.e. converting video). I hope that it is just working too hard and turning down the configuration would do the trick. Thanks again |

| try reseating the heatsink and add a new application of thermal grease; (The best out there is Arctic Silver 5). |
