| I've been using the integrated graphics of my Asus P5PE-VM motherboard for years. I decided to buy an AGP card over ebay just to add some extra boost in light gaming & web games. I use my rig for home use only doing those usual basic tasks. However, the Asus website specified 1066mhz FSB CPUs are supported when installing a graphic card and 800mhz FSB CPUs are supported when using an integrated graphics solution. Since my current processor is a 3.40Ghz Pentium 4 651, can I still install the AGP card without worrying about compatibility issues? I won't buy that card not unless I'm sure that I'll be having no problem about this. I have a tight budget, so buying a used 1066mhz CPU would be impractical either. Any suggestions shall be appreciated. Thanks! |

| If you have a graphics card in place, then you can run a 1066FSB CPU, just like the site says. I'm not sure what your question is about compatibility, since it sounds like you're following the directions. And a used Core 2 Duo (1066FSB) chip can be had dirt-cheap on eBay, depending what model you go after. A E6300 can be had under $20, shipping included, and would absolutely stomp a hole in your Pentium 4 651. Not even the same ballpark of performance. If you can spare $30-$40, you can score an E6700, which is even better. Older Core 2 chips are really affordable if you're on a budget. |

| I think he means if he installs a graphics card does he have to use a 1066FSB CPU. |

Oh, well, in that case, no, he wouldn't. The graphics card wouldn't require you to run a 1066FSB chip. |
