I have a Dell vostro 1000 which has an AMD sempron 3600+ I would like to be able to use virtualization software and the sempron does not support it. I did some research and found that a turion 64 x2 tl58 would be compatible with the socket which is an S1G1 I managed to get a turion x2 tl56 and tried the upgrade and the laptop did not boot, the power light Would turn on, the dvd rom would turn on and the hard drive would spin up but nothing on the screen. I brought the processor back to the shop thinking it might be faulty and the man gave me a turion 64 x2 tl 58 I tried this and the same thing.
I've also upgraded the bios from 2.6.2 to 2.6.3 and the same thing, when I went to take off the heat sink to put back in the old processor I noticed it was quite warm, the original cpu has a TDP of 25 watts and the turion has a TDP of 31 watts; also the original cpu is a core step 2 CAABG and the turion is a core step 3 CAARG, are any of these significant, any ideas what I'm doing wrong I would love to get this working. |
