I am reinstalling a GeForce card. I have uninstalled the drivers and removed the card and will disable the integrated video. I have downloaded the most recent drivers from Nvideo but have not run the executable file. What is the sequence of installing the card and opening the downloaded file? (I do not have the installation disk for the card.)

generally nvidia would like you to install drivers first, then install the card. but it doesn't really matter. anyone who says otherwise is just paranoid. without the drivers, windows will use default vga drivers, which will work fine (albiet slowly) until you get the good drivers installed.
