My mainboard uses the VIA KT266A chipset Socket A. My mainboard manual says I have a FSB of 133 MHz and I am able to use DDR PC2100 RAM. AMD claims that the 1400 has a FSB of 266 MHz. This page says that the CPU has a bus speed of 133 but uses DDR technology which means the actual speed is 266 MHz. Why are they just confusing me with actual speed and not actual speed? Can I use this CPU or not? What CPU can I use?

There are 2 kind of Athlon 1400 : one is working at FSB200 by default (blocked coeff of 14.0x) and the other one is working at FSB266 (coeff = 10.5x).

Well if it's locked for 14x it uses a fsb of 100! Because 14x100=1400. Or the other example 10.5x133=1400.

It can't use a fsb of 200 or 266.

You multiply system frequency by 2 when using DDR-RAM, because datas as send twice in a clock state (on front and on descent of the clock).
So when I say FSB200 this for a real DDR-RAM clock speed of 100MHz
