I need to upgrade my Pentium 4 630 to get the NX feature. I'm looking at a Pentium 4 650 or 660.

My current Bios is AMI 1011.002 SM BIOS ver 2.3

1. Will I need to upgrade this BIOS?
2. If not, will I need to change the settings in the BIOS? What settings?
3. If I go with the 660, which runs hotter, should I upgrade the CPU cooling.

Best way to find out is to check on your motherboard producer's website... Search for your model and you'll find out all the infos you need .. Looks like you have a ASUS mobo (its my guess) ... on the website at CPU Suport tab is a list with all cpus supported and for everyone Bios version that support that cpu...

and for cooling question ... there is some difference between 630 and 660 : 84W TDP first one and 115W TDP the second... depends what cooler do you have now.. but would be better to change it too..

Thanks for your replies.

Yes, it's an ASUS P5GD1.

I found the ASUS support. Apparently no changes are necessary to the BIOS. I guess I'll go with the 650 since speed is not an issue.
