The Mystery of the Q936 PPro 200/512K

So here we have a closely matched set of Q936 PPro 200/512K cache CPUs. I"m not sure if Q936 is an ES or QS, but it's not a chip you see a lot of in any event..


The first one is marked with the unusual "larger" font, and has the extra group of larger numbers on the bottom right corner.

The topside markings are

The second one is marked with the "production style" small font.

So is the "I" plant known to us? One might guess it would be an "internal" line here in the USA, while L is the regular PPro production line, wherever that may be..

"I" plant is Malay's development facility.. most likely under same roof as the "L" plant.
The laser engraving machines are programmed individually and "I" plant has always had that strange font for both Pentiums & Pentium Pros

The I581-0059 is an Intel lot marking for internal test samples (generally used for each new core revision)
The part number, qSpec & FPO are only added after testing is complete
the "I" in I581-0059 signifies 512k cache
if it was "E" is would mean 256k cache

Intel didnt really make any distinction between ES & QS with Pentium Pros
The Q936 is 13 weeks after the first sA1 stepping CPU appeared, so nothing new
but it appears to be one of the earliest Pros with 512/b stepping cache

Ah, i understand better now.. I didn't know Q936 had two flavors..

So between the two, i assume the one with the lot code on the bottom right corner would be the less common of the two??
