im thinking of buying a intel cpu but have not decided which to choose.

i have narrowed it down to http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819116213 a pentium d dual core blah blah.

and a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16819116198
pentium 4.

i know theres a huge price difference and i can afford pentium d but im not sure if the dual core is all that much better than the p4. so any tips or suggestions?

well my point of view is that the p4 dual core is a waste of time (have to change mobo cos the pin out between mono and dual core are not the same... and performance is very poor and is far behind the amd athlon64 dual core) if you are not doing multi thread applications. personnally i would get get the "intel Pentium D 820 Smithfield 800MHz FSB 2 x 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Dual Core, EM64T Processor" (i still prefer amd cpu for the 64bits applications...)
