I bought myself a pentium 4 engineering sample, the Pentium 4 561. 3.6GHz 64bit enabled with 1mb of cache. I can't wait to see how this baby performs! I don't think it's even out yet. No reviews, nothing for sale. I tried newegg, with no luck.

Now that intel is keeping track of their employees that have the ES chips, you'll most likely not see another ES like this for a very very long time. Very Happy

Shocked
My question maybe is not good but I'm curious - How much you paid for this baby ?

$300

Not a bad price, but regarding the fact that these chips are the "old" Pentium (with 1MB L2 cache) only with EM64T enable, i would prefer a stock Pentium 4 6xx : 2MB L2 cache, EM64T and unlocked multiplier with EIST.

That's funny to see vendor's comments like this one : "This is the special Intel confidential cpu (better than oem). ". An ES is nothing more than a beta CPU, sometimes worst, but never better than the retail one. It does not overclock higher than a stock CPU, even more since stocks CPUs are now lock-free.

$300 isn't a bad price at all, it's actually really cheap. I sold my 560J for $280, so basically I paid $20 to upgrade to 64bit, and have the ability to acheive a very high FSB, thus ridding me of the videocard bottleneck Smile

The guy had buy it now for $300, free shipping, but a reserve of $270 + 10 shipping. I had to have it Sad
