Speccy vs. Real Temp - Which Is Correct?

Hello,

- Intel Core 2 Duo T5900 (not overclocked)
- Antec Formula 6

Under load*, I'm getting the following readings:

Speccy
- Motherboard = 69°C
- CPU #0 = 68°C
- CPU #1 = 70°C

Real Temp v3.70
- CPU #0 = 83°C
- CPU #1 = 86°C

Which one is correct or more accurate?

I have always personally believed Speccy, but Real Temp has even gone up to 90°C as "maximum for core #1" but the thermal status is all "OK". And if it really was close to 86°C, the fan would surely be running faster than it actually is.

At those temps your notebook will not work for years definitely.

I recommend you to check in AIDA64 first temp in CPU section (highest value).

OK CPU temp maybe is in acceptable range but motherboard temp (chipset) is to high. Check thermopad or paste on it because can be the reason.

Cpu temp i think its a good tool!! I have used it when OC exreme pc- cpu's and the results are very Reliable with external thermal sensors

Btw............ this is not really Load all this Apps u mention
And the temps u Got is really hi..for this Apps

Try some Hi-end Bi-directional Rendering Machine
Crunching numbers simulating the real behavior of light (using maxwell equatios -raytracing ect ect) u will Fill up on 100% ALL of your cores Working!
I use this for my Stress tests on OC

Hi kosmokrator,

I know the 'load' isn't really a load. Minecraft is probably the most CPU-intensive program there.

By "load", I simply meant what was running at the time of the recorded temperatures.

I have no intentions of overclocking my processor as it only needs to handle Minecraft and Photoshop, which it currently does, fine.

My only concern was with the programs. Simply, which one is more reliable?

I should also explain that this is left running overnight. SpeedStep throttles the processor down to 600MHz during the night. The fan is barely noticeable.

AIDA64 one more time is trustworthy soft in my opinion.

LAptops allways have overheating problems.....
now i see your cpu spec's .....
but the temps its a bit hi.... (may a thermal replace-fan cleaning inside down 10 degrees ....may more!
