rare intel 775 x6900 chip ? odd markings on chip

Hi all have just been given a cpu like this and am very confused on the x markings on it? can anyone explain why intel marked this cpu in this way?

Core 2 extreme x6900 was planned after x6800 in late 2006 as i remember, but never released.
Probably it's one of them, it's not official part and x marks can be here due to this reason.
Similar story was with never officially released E8700, but it's leaked and it was possible to buy without much problem.

Hi Thanks for the reply that helps a lot so it looks like i have a fairly rare CPU here ,

i will message you if i decide to sell it which i probably will as don't have much use for it.
