Hi! I'm a newbie in this site. I just want to seek the advice of the readers pertaining with my concern. Win XP Pro SP3 will soon be dumped & Microsoft will cease its support in April 2014. I have an old rig (Asus P5PE-VM + Core 2 Duo E6420 + Geforce FX5500 AGP card) which was tuned to Win XP for more than 5 years. Can I upgrade to Win 7 with this board? I have limited knowledge about those softwares & drivers and how can it be fixed. A total overhaul is not likely coz of big cost, I just want to extend the service life of this rig which until now is doing just fine. If its not upgradable, then can I just stick with Win XP and install the best Anti-Virus software after April 2014 so that I can still use it further? Please help..Thanks!

The board & CPU will support Windows 7. How much RAM does the system in question have?

2GB will work as long as you run the 32-bit version of Win 7. That board is maxed out at 2GB unfortunately (only 2 slots, max 1GB per slot of DDR). I wouldn't recommend running Win 7 X64 though, as it has a larger memory footprint and likes systems with 3GB or more of RAM.
