|
|
Has anyone actually seen one of these? They were supposed to have been used in one of Tandy's early portable computers.
I have also seen a reference to an 80C85-6 (6 Mhz) part.
Netcomponents show 0 worldwide inventory on any P80C85.
Does anyone know why these chips are so rare? Does anyone have
an Intel datasheet for it?
Thanks,
George |

Are you sure these chips built into tandy portables really were Intel parts? There are a lot of second-sourced 8085s around which you'll be able to find from time to time, e.g. like this Mitsubishi version of a P80C85A-2:

I never heard about Intel 80C85 before. Google shows only one Chinese site that has Intel P80C85 in stock:

I also found multiple references to the chip on the net.

Try the following Google Search:
+"Intel 80C85"
and you'll get hundreds of hits.
If you wonder why it's taking years for me to write my collectors guide
for vintage Intel microchips, this is a perfect example:) |

On an unrelated subject, thank you for teaching me how to search for an exact phrase in Google |

(Completely Edited)
I just did a search on Netcomponents and it shows 35 Intel P80C85 plus datasheet, but I am 99.9% positive that the 35 Intel P80C85's on Netcomponents are the same 35 Intel P80C85's on the Chinese site. _________________

When I searched for Intel 80C85 I noticed many web pages mention that TRS-80 model 100 has this processor. Well, now I'm a happy owner of TRS-80 model 100 computer:
Sadly, the computer doesn't have Intel 80C85 processor. Instead, it has OKI 80C85. Memory chips on a system board look very nice. The picture of the board:

Of course, this is not a proof that Intel 80C85 does not exist, but is it possible that people mean "80C85 compatible with Intel 8085" when they say "Intel 80C85"?
