Very nice article, John.
I never knew about Olympia and the C3PF chip.
It is interesting that Mostek had better manufacturing technology than Fairchild.

By the way, do you know why Mostek produced the MK6820 chip, although it did not produce the 6800 processor?

Motorola/Rockwell/AMI/MOS Technology/MOSTEK/HITACHI/ ST Microelectronics/GTE/CMD and Fujitsu all produced the 6820.

Not sure why Mostek is the only one that only made the 6820, probably Motorola only licensed it to them for a short time (It appears to have no longer made after 1979)
