Does anyone know how much Mostek MK4008's are worth? I'm referring to gold/ceramic ones, not plastic. I'm not even sure there ever were any plastic ones. I have an opportunity to acquire a large amount of them, but want to know if they're worth the price the seller wants.

They're only 4kbit DRAM chips, but are unusual in that there was an article published about them in a magazine that explained how to use them as a CCD to make a low resolution digital camera.

Is there any value as far as collecting goes? Are they really common, or are they somewhat rare?

Surely someone must have an opinion. Is $0.50/chip a good price, or is that too much? I want to know before I buy them so I don't waste a bunch of money on relatively worthless chips.

Well, I've found someone selling over 1000 of them at about $0.50 a piece, so I'll probably buy them. They're chips that had been pulled out of old electronics, and have been sitting in a warehouse for quite awhile. If anyone else wants to get some of them, let me know. Maybe we could do a group buy if there's any interest.
