Took 2 hours to remove the heatsink lol
nice MCM though, not entirely sure what its from, thinking pre- Z800 _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

Really cool, no idea either, but very likely not Power (although it should be from 1994 era, like the Power2).
How did you remove the heatspreader? it is sealed using that typical IBM grey silicon that does not melt at all. |

of course, and now one edge is cracked. Some of these beasts are really
very hard to open, you start very smooth and afer one hour trying you get crazy and then you try stronger and stronger until anywhere something break and then you get completley crazy. lol, I had this often in the past....
I opened a 4381 MCM with a CNC mill et the end , lol.

Just tried to open a Power2 with the same method than the PPC MCM, sawing the 4 corners of the heatspreader, worked a treat. Took 15 minutes, perfect condition
Just have to clean the grey silicon residue. |
