Has anybody ever heard of testing CPU's with a multi-meter doing a continuity test? Is this even possible?

I wouldn't. It wouldn't prove anything, and most multimeters use several volts (albeit at a very low current) to test continuity. With modern CPUs operating around only a volt or two, it could actually damage the processor.
