I've been quite happy with the i5-760 Lynnfield I've had for the last 4 years though recently I've considered upgrading to the i5-3350P Ivy Bridge. With the 3350P about to be discontinued in March I'm feeling forced to choose. I use my computer mostly for games such as the Dragon Age series and with the new version coming out this fall with the Frostbite 3 engine I want to avoid CPU bottlenecks. The reason I like the 3350P is that the onboard graphics processor is disabled which suits me just fine because I of course use a graphics card. For reasons I don't understand all of Intel's CPUs have onboard graphics even though people like me don't have any use for them. There are no 'P' series CPUs for Haswell and apparently no plans to make one. I don't like being locked into the LGA1155 motherboard but I like the US$180 price of the 3350P. Any thoughts?

i5-760 Lynnfield has socket 1156, you cannot upgrade to Socket 1155 without changing motherboard. _________________ Looking For Chips 386 J38605DX, Symphony FPU, Rise Tiger, MP6-II, Winchip 3&4, IDT C6-Early Logo, Nx686, Tesla 8088, L80C86, Bulgarian 8088, Pentium 4 QT69ES. |
