CPU Usage

Hello:

I upgraded from a single core processor to one with 8 cores a year or two ago and when I run Microsoft Money 97 or covert video using Any Video Convertor my CPU usages goes to 85 percent or more. When I run Microsoft Money 97 the high CPU usage is limited to one core and when I convert video the usage is high in all 8 cores.

My first processor was an AMD 475Mhz processor and my last single core processor was a Intel P4 Prescott with a 800 FSB. In the approximate 15 years I had a single core processor on my computer the CPU usage never reached 10 percent unless I had something invalid going on with my computer.

Any assistance in helping me understand why my newer hardware doesn't seem to have the capacity of my older hardware would be appreciated. All the new hardware is at least double the capacity of my old hardware on every point on paper .
