Intel SL22V Fragile Pins?

Hi, I recently acquired an sl22v with a handful of bent pins. As I attempted to ease one of these pins back into position (not usually a problem), the entire pin including the circular gold base simply detached while applying hardly any pressure. I've always found ceramic Intel chips of the same sort of age to be pretty robust and wondered if this a common feature with Pentium Pros, perhaps due to a difference in either the materials used for the pins or production methods?
