I own a Suzuki Burgman 650cc Super Scooter that I use mainly to ride to work on.

Yesterday afternoon I was riding to work and came up behind several cars while approaching a sweeping right hand bend.

I started scanning ahead around the right hand bend for an opportunity to overtake and then looked back to the cars I was coming up behind only to see a sea of red brake lights coming up fast.

I braked too hard and not sure what happened but I ended up on the Road tumbling along for a time and thinking "This isn't looking too good"

Luckily I had my Jacket with Armour built into it on so the damage to the body isn't too bad with mainly some abrasions to my knees and hips but must have managed to slam the back of my right hand into something and I am now having trouble opening and closing my fingers properly.

Spent 5 hours in the emergency department of our local hospital last night but xrays show no broken bones.

The bike is not looking so flash though but luckily it is insured.

So today I am somewhat stiff and sore but hopefully a couple of days off work will see me right.

I gotta recommend the Armoured Jackets after this experience though and while i have normally only worn my work pants to work I will have to consider wearing my armoured ones in the future.

Glad you are okay! Back in my crazy younger years my racing leathers saved me from injury numerous times.

Good you are still able to write:-)
I had a motorcycle accident 20 years back when an Opel Manta did a u-turn and left me no chance.
Did a long flight, ended on the other street side kerbside (two lanes each with two extra metro lanes inbetween).

Luckily I learned motorbike in the army so I knew how to react - take off in the millisecond of crash, fly and land.

I just was happily surprised that it worked that kind of perfect!
Had a minor shoulder thing, forgotten after two days.

Bottom line: Bikers, do field training, it might safe your life! And, as said, wear right clothes, might prevent your flesh making long street markings.

got a phone call from the hospital last night saying they had re-examined my xrays and i have a couple of small fractures in my right hand.

just got back from the hospital now with my hand in plaster and my arm in a sling.

typing this left handed which is very slow and awkward as is using my mouse left handed.

so off work for a bit more time than i thought. Mad
