Hi,
I have an ASUS G73 jh, 6gb, i7 Q720, Windows 7 Home Premium.
and want to put in as much ram as possible for animation.
VUE11 needs a lot of ram.

I see 8gb for i7 Q720 in this review.

This chart says the physical memory limit for W7HP x64 is 16gb ram.

At the ASUS forum, they say the G73 jh can take 16gb, but
I'm still not 100% sure if the extra ram is being used or
is just being reported as available in the Task Manager.

If I add more ram to get, e.g. 12, 14, or 16 total,
will the extra ram (i.e. >8gb), be available to whatever program needs it?
Or is it a waste of money to add more than 8gb?
Thanks! Confused

~8hr later....

billyray520 at the ASUS ROG forum, as well as others at other forums,
have convinced me that the G73 jh can hold and use 16gb of ram (max), in spite of the 8gb physical memory supported per Intel specs.

So unless someone says differently, I'll go ahead and get
2x4gb sticks for a total of 14gb.......(not worth trying to replace the
2gb stick hidden behind the mainboard).

Thanks! Wink

ps- I posted here in addition to asking at other forums, since
there seemed to be differing opinions, and this site was the
source of the excellent review on the i7 720 QM (2010) by gshv.
