hello ive just upgraded my lapton cpu (toshiba l300) from a intel celron 900 @2.20ghz. to a
Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile p8600 2.4 GH.
my bios is right up to date and the chip fits in fine and is usable in this board. ( i checked before i bought it) anyway i put the cpu in an put it all back together and it powerd up but the screen wont come on. (just a black screen) . so ive put the old cpu back in and the laptop works as it should.
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED WITH THIS THANKS!

The Intel GL960 chipset (which is what the Toshiba l300 uses) won't support chips with a 1066MHz FSB. The fastest chip you could actually use is a Core 2 Duo T9500, which is actually a 2.6GHz core chip with an 800MHz FSB. Just because the chip fits (same socket) doesn't mean it's always compatible.

Just back it down a few notches to a T9300, they're half the price, and only 100MHz slower core (hardly noticeable). Same dual core, 6M cache chip otherwise.

You might need to shop around. They're readily available on eBay for ~US$20 (about £10) all day long. I've bought several T9xxx series chips on ebay for upgrading laptops for resale.

Not a problem. Be sure to upgrade to the latest BIOS before upgrading, too.
