Hi everyone,
I have recently gotten into die photography, but with a whole different approach: I am using an 8x10'' analog large format film camera to do it. It's a bit of a mad set-up, the length of the camera alone is over 4 feet. The exposure time is about 5 minutes, if anybody in the house switches on the AC or a truck drives by, the negative will be blurry. I managed to get one decent shot from the only die that I have: http://www.morlinghaus.com/cpu/f9bqynatgwz83ldj2vgo26exf18qpu
Here is the thing: I do not really know how to source parts. I bought some on e-bay, spend a lot of money but could not get to the die, or it did not look any good. CPU's that I liked I could not find and so on...
In order to continue my project, my request to everybody:
Please, please, please send me your nicest dies.
I will reimburse you for postage, and will return the dies back to you with an original signed print of every die that I will photograph. I promise to take very good care of them, no harm will come to them and I'll send them back in a timely fashion.
I hope it does not sound too crazy, but without getting great dies, this project would falter.
Thanks,
Christoph

Oh, great setup, 19th century technology meets 21st!
What do you do with film, leave it as negative or make large positive prints?
Isn't it more hardcore to use glass plates? |

Glass plates are hard to come by . I use medical x-ray film to get a very similar look. For this I am using color negative film which is scanned and then printed. Also a nice combination between 19th century and the digital age. |

oh wow if I'd just remember on which die I found the Bird with the eggs... If anyone else remembers, I should have the chip somewhere. Would be a nice thing for your project. _________________ You may use the photos I have posted here under CC BY-NC-SA license. |
