I'am a newbie on this site.. I'm planning to do an upgrade from my LGA 775 platform to either LGA 1150 or LGA 1155 platform.. Before doing so I browsed some articles and forums about these two new sockets. Based on what I have gathered, the Haswell chip runs hotter than Ivy Bridge chips which is the main issue for most users and the performance difference is only within the range of 3% to 5% is most cases. Now my question is: In normal usage without overclocking, does it run more hotter than the Ivy Bridge chips? I asked this coz I'm not sure of what to expect. BTW I don't do overclocking and I'm not a hardcore gamer for that matter, I just want to have a powerful but power efficient rig for my next build. Any advice shall be appreciated. Thank you very much..

Haswell is of course cooler than Ivy bridge. Lower process and lower TDPs at same performance.
