LGA 775 MoBo installing a Q8200?

Hi, I found an old Compaq DC7600 Desktop. It has a P4 in it already but I wanted to upgrade that so it can play a few basic games like Garrys Mod for my younger brother.

I've bought a Q8200 on eBay, the guy assured me it worked and he tested it before hand. I found the microcode for this CPU and as far as I know I've installed it properly.

Though when I place the CPU in the machine and turn it on, before any fans spin up I get error beeps and the machine just wont boot. Could this mean the CPU is defective or it just isn't installed properly?

You have to check to see if your motherboard supports the new CPU and if so if you need to do a BIOS update.

looks like it only supports up to Pentium D, not Core2 Duo or Quad's.. Sad
