|
|
From what I consulted, QPI is for communication between CPUs.
Xeon E5 2600 v3 has two QPI port (totally 88 pins if i am right)
However, the Core i7 5960X do not support multi CPU solution.
Does it mean these pins are actually empty (not linked?) in a Core i7? |

| The QPI is for processor to processor, processor to device (such as an MCH) or device to device (between hubs, hubs and processors, etc). Some i7 processors expose the QPI externally, but most other processors use it internally to connect the processor to the memory controller, and interface the system through DMI or PCIe connections. Now, just because the processor exposes the QPI doesn't mean the board maker will use it. |
