| I just received two seemingly identical Intel C1702A EPROMs (thanks Glory_Cloud). I took a couple of photographs and noticed something interesting; even though they look identical one has a die numbered 1601A and the other one 1602A. Was this common practice? |

Probably leftover die that was not a good selling point for OTP at that time  |

That sounds plausible with the leftover dies. Didn't think of that.
