| Thanks for those who made comments on my last plea for help, but the story goes on, im using a celeron 466 mhz cpu. My mobo supports 66, 100 and 133 mhz bus speed, im trying to upgrade my cpu to a p3. I have bought a p3 650/256/100 also a p3 733/256133 and also a p3 866/256/133. none of these work in my system! i have checked everything i can think of and tried lots of different combinations of jumper and bios settings but still nothing. As soon as i put my original celeron 466 back in it all works fine but on the slow side. Any help would be great, thanks!!! |

Did you try flashing your motherboard BIOS? _________________ Collecting soviet and western CPUs once again -- highfive to old-timers o/ |

No, a BIOS is the stuff that boots up your system in the very beginning, that is when you press the power button.
If you know your motherboard vendor and model, you can obtain the latest BIOS file on the manufacturer's website and update your motherboard this way, so that it can understand those newer processors. You will find instructions on how to flash BIOS on the website hopefully. If not - post here. _________________ Collecting soviet and western CPUs once again -- highfive to old-timers o/ |

| I think I may have the answer. Your motherboard has Slot1-connector and with the celeron 466 you use a slot adapter. Do you use the same adapter when trying the P3s? Some adapters are for old celerons only and won't work with P3s. |
