Hi,
Well done.
I am very interested in understanding how you mounted these CPUs in the frames. What materials did you use? |

well, i made the frames using fir (pine ? ) to be light.. i used extruded polystyrene (2 cm thickness) for fixing the CPUS. For some of the cpus i had plastic sockets that i have glued (with double sided tape used for fixing mirrors) on polystyrene... and i just mounted the CPUs in the sockets .. the older CPUs with big and solid pins i just stuck them in polystiren until i'll have sockets for them... Other CPUs with smaller pins are fxed with double sided tape... _________________ https://www.facebook.com/CPUCollectionRO |

Polystyrene is very bad in terms of static electricity, I would think. |

some are white , some yellow... i like to keep the colour.. its the same story with old coins..cleaning them destroys them... i just try to remove the others : dust, pen marks and other substances... _________________ https://www.facebook.com/CPUCollectionRO |

I'd be afraid of the same, though I'm curious what about graphite enriched polystyrene...? That might be somewhat conductive.
Nice exhibition, btw! And it's not even that far from here...

thank you
i dont know what to say about static electricity .... i searched for a solution to be pretty cheap, big pieces , and a good contrast for best view (ceramic cpus on black surface wouldnt look so good ) .. _________________ https://www.facebook.com/CPUCollectionRO |
