Has anyone created CPU from existing discrete logic ICs? I was rather surprised with the Voyager program that they build custom CPU using radiation-harded CMOS 4000 series along with custom ICs Shocked

Many early designs like pdp-11 had CPUs from TTL logic.

There are a lot of homebrew TTL CPUs, I know over 20 designs, e.g.
