Why would my 1702A EPROM have 1602A Dies?

HI - got a scrap lot. Started unbending the legs.... pushed one of the batch under my 'scope and found they contain 1602A dies and not 1702A dies - significant?

BTW I have so far five of them that have one leg snapped off. If someone wants one for their collection they pay postage only. PM me.

The 1602A and the 1702A used the same die, so I believe all Intel 1702A will say 1602A on the die.

My 1702 also says 1602 on the die, so I totally agree with what debs says...(see the pic below)

here we have some variants:-) Interesting how they collaborated back then. I can imagine an Intel salesman calling NS "Hey, I need 100 1702A's, do you have some fresh ones?" - "Sure, come along!"
