What brand of network switch do you use in the office? We've been using Juniper for 6 years now and our IT Head suggested to shift to Cisco. However our GM here got surprised with the quotations that our Purchasing Department has submitted. Prices of brand new Cisco units are quite expensive and our current budget is not enough to get one. Our IT head gave another suggestion which is to consider a 2nd hand unit. My boss told me to research for some reviews first before we decide. Do you have any idea or experience with Cisco pre-owned network switches? Hope you can share with us. Thanks.

We use Extreme Networks for switches, and Aerohive for WiFi.

We use Extreme Networks for switching & our WiFi system. The only Cisco we have is at the edge, backed up by a Palo Alto firewall & Exinda traffic shaper. Core routing is handled by an Extreme S4.

Thank you for sharing. You mentioned about Aerohive. Are you referring to this : http://www.aerohive.com/80211ac ? I just recently read about their site and yes, I think they also offer high performance wireless lans. It's seems you have powerful network supplies in your company Smile

Yes. We have 40 Gbps core, 10 Gbps to the edge, servers and SAN, 1 Gbps to clients, and 802.11ac WiFi. And 2x1 Gbps to the Internet. Cheaper and easier than comparable gear from Cisco.
