Hi is there anyone out there????. I have a Toshiba Satellite L450D-11G part number PSLY5E-00C0!LEN with an AMD Semprone (TM) SI-42 2.10Ghz CPU.
Originally on this laptop I had Win 7 Home premium SP1 32 bit. The max RAM according to the Crucial memory scanner is 8GB.
I have 4 Gb of RAM, but only 3.87Gb is usable. I want to max out the RAM but realise I need 64 bit for this. I bought a genuine copy of win 7 professional 64 bit. Installed this, computer runs ok but still very slow.

3 Questions to the brains out there.

1) Can I run the 64 bit version Win 7 pro SP1 on this motherboard or is this the reason why I can make a cup of tea inbetween web pages loading.

2) If I can use the 64 bit version and increase the RAM to 8Gb, would this improve speed and performance

3) If I can run the above O/S, can I upgrade the CPU, if so to what.

Or can I just upgrade the CPU without the RAM upgrade to improve speed and performance.
The laptop is used mainly for browsing and occasional word/excel work. No streaming or heavy downloads.
THANKS

Was your laptop faster with old Windows?
You have less memory because your GPU memory is taken from RAM.
CPU is old slow one core AMD and 5400 rpm HDD.
Imo you have no point to buy more memory, for web browsing and office 4GB(or 3.Cool is enough. 4GB DDR2 SODIMM is really expensive and not worth it
If you want upgrade i recommend dual core cpu(dont have time atm to search this laptop cpu support, maybe later) and ssd(probably you don't need big expensive one).
