Hello folks!
I got an Alienware Aurora R4,
I7-3820 cpu, 32gb ddr3 (4x8gb), Gtx 690. Heavy as hell.
I tried it but I have no use for it, gpu gets really hot (bad air flow design I read in forums).
Do you think I should sell it? Make a new pc out of what is salvageable (means just a good mobo)?
Really, got no idea... it's been on my desk for 2 months now, used it 10 times maybe.
Do they have any market? Actually I'm not really interested in making $.
Thanks for any input! |

If the problems is bad airflow and can't be fixed, I would transfer it into a better case. Doesn't need to be an expensive case, unless you buy for looks as opposed to performance. _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

Alienware are expensive and mostly for gaming fans ... if you dont use it, you can sell it, and buy a new laptop / desktop for that money .. and im pretty sure you'll also have some money left to buy something for your collection _________________ https://www.facebook.com/CPUCollectionRO |

I've been through some forums and it looks like airflow was bad all along, so...
The issue is that there is custom mobo inside, I have to check if it can be moved. I'll look into moving parts.

Uhm, if I decide to sell it, just separate parts or everything... I'm asking what is "financially" better, I don't have any idea.
I found how much it cost and it's really too much for what it is. Presents are presents, I didn't pay for it...
Thanks! |

If you decide to sell the video card, let me know. It'd be an upgrade for my son |

if it's an original Alienware built system, you should sell it 'as is' as a complete system... if its custom modified its up to you ... _________________ https://www.facebook.com/CPUCollectionRO |

Ok, thanks for your answer.
If I keep the OS serial do you think it's ok? It's Win 7 Pro in french, as I live in Italy I don't know if it's useful...
I feel like a noob! LOL |

Windows OEM products can usually only be activated on the original system (or one that is identical). So I would recommend against keeping the code. I had trouble activating mine after changing CPU and hard drive at the same time. _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

i live in Romania.. here is a very common habit to take COA from dead notebooks (up to win7) and install windows with those keys on custom made desktops .. and activation works every time.. its not legal but should be because that COA is already paid and isnt used by other people or on other machines (since that laptop is dead) ...
even with the Win10.. do you believe that we afford to buy a licenced version ( the cheaper is 120 euro win10 32 bits and minimum salary here is about 200 euro ) ? No.. we just use a COA from a dead notebook, activate windows 7 and update by windows updates to 10.. and works
p.s. here 90% of notebooks are sold without having Windows instaled or pre-instaled .. just some DOS shitty version.. _________________ https://www.facebook.com/CPUCollectionRO |
