|
|
Here is an interesting sample, that could become much more rare in the future than other mobile Intel Arrandale processors:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Intel-Core-i7-610LM-Calpella-1-87GHz-4M-PGA988-CPU-/190533753712?pt=CPUs&hash=item2c5cb25b70
Some sellers refer to it as Core i7-610LM, or Core i7-840QM (on Taobao), but it's not even close. The linked auction has CPU-Z screenshot, that identifies this CPU as "Havendale", and shows two CPU cores with HyperThreading. "Havendale" was a name of Intel 45nm core, that was supposed to be a dual-core version of Lynnfield, but, if I'm not mistaken, it was canceled in 2009. Mobile version of "Havendale", codenamed "Auburndale", was canceled too. The processor has two dies - one, on the left, is a graphics and memory controllers, and the CPU cores are on the right one. The die on the right was manufactured on 45nm technology. If you compare the picture in the auction you will see that the right die is larger than on Arrandale (32nm core + 45nm graphics) processors. Processor's part number BY80608002898AA confirms that the core was different from other mobile processors (80608 is a core identifier). So, this is pretty cool piece of history, albeit too expensive. By the way, Taobao prices for this chip are two or three times cheaper.

these are the only sSpecs Intel lists with 80608 to maybe help track down others
Q1Q7 BY80608002898AE FC-PGA8B
Q2A7 BQ80608003165AA FC-BGA8B
Q2A8 BQ80608003159AA FC-BGA8B
Q2B5 BQ80608002898AE FC-BGA8B
Q2CY BQ80608002898AA FC-BGA8B
Q2CZ BY80608002898AA FC-PGA8B
Q2DV BQ80608003117AB FC-BGA8B
Q2DW BQ80608003144AB FC-BGA8B
Q2DX BQ80608003156AD FC-BGA8B
Q2DY BQ80608003165AB FC-BGA8B
side note >> Q2CZ was also used fo FF80576GH0676M
nothing is listed for 80606,
but on the point of cancelled cores there are 3 qSpecs listed for 80548 (Tejas and Jayhawk)
guessing maybe mech samples? as all have JM80548KX000000 as part number _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

Prices on Taobao for these chips are in the range 350 - 400 RMB, or $54 - $62. There are a couple of listings for $35 - $40, but I think those are from individuals, not companies. The fees (PayPal, shipping to a person in China, and then shipping to AVICC) will add more than $5 per chip. I think it'd be better to wait until the prices drop to more reasonable level.
