memory control register (mcr?) part of the CPU?

Im wondering if any knowledgable chaps will be able to confirm to me that the memory control register is NOT part of the CPU. Strange question I know.
Although I wonder if it is now, im not sure.


Dont suppose anyone knows what MDR and MER means too?

Since you mentioned processors and memory then MDR is probably memory data register. I don't know about MER, maybe you meant MAR - memory address register?
