Here is an early A80960CA-25 SV907
Notice the 1X marking in the upper left corner. I don't know exactly what it means, any ideas?
My guess is it has something to do with the 960CA's clocking.
The CA core has a CLKMODE pin that determines how the input clock (and external PCKL2:1) is handled.
If CLKMODE is held low, the CLKIN, and external PCLKs are divided by 2, if it is HIGH, the CLKIN (and the PCLKs) are divided by 1. If not connected the 960CA pulls CLKMODE LOW, and resulted in a divide by 2 CLKIN.
Perhaps on these ones the pull down was non-functional, resulting in a default 1X CLK? _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!
