Have a look at this:

on the bottom it has CX - JP stamped on it. didn't really take any notice of it befor, but since looking through some of your collections I noticed it may have some significance.

Can anyone tell me what it means?

Sam.

My reflection is that its from a pc manufacturer. Often there are small stickers or labels on cpus with internal codes for an pc manufacturer. This one uses a stamp. So it has nothing to do with Cyrix.

Didn't think it would, but hey - you have engineering sample stamped down the side of your avatar in similar lettering. thats why I was questioning it.

It is not stamped, its engraved in the ceramic. (and the cavity is filled with thermalpaste or something...) But i understand your questioning.

Edit: Look att the "135" to the right... http://www.recode.se/cpu/documents/38975581920050814113749.jpg

yes, sorry, the CX-JP is engraved. I'm sure a munufacturer wouldn't be silly enought to enrave on their own cpu right?

I have noted that some of the earlier CYrix's - 386(?)'s have JP in the part code.

EDIT -it's not engraved , it's stamped Rolling Eyes

CX-JP is a notation used in Japan Cyrix CPUs

All Cyrix CPUs, as long as it is sold in Japan and pass through the Cyrix Japan Distributor (or Agent), bears this mark

ES is no exception

By the distributor

It is from the same plant(s) as other unmarked MII / 6x86MX CPU

Im sorting out pictures posted in the forums and i compared this Cyrix with the ones in the newly created cpu library.

There seems to be a difference with other known mx:es. this CPU are missing the "Cyrix Corp" at the top, maybe thats why it says CX-JP instead?

Check http://www.recode.se/cpulibrary/Cyrix/6x86MX/200/index.html

Trade? Wink
