Got a set of these in today

Very clearly labeled as CPU and Cache, with an HP part # but what are they?

VLSI 326282
5803-0001
CPU-ASIC
1820-8361

VLSI 330161
VY06150-3
CACHE-ASIC
1821-0101

If the 9206 and 9208 markings indicate manufacturing in early 1992, they could be PA-7100 chips. Right era, right manufacturer (VLSI). But they don't look like the PA-7100 that I remember.

I found pic of board with these chips: http://www.hpmuseum.net/images/A990_CPU_12990-60102-34.jpg at http://www.hpmuseum.net/display_item.php?hw=1125. Thus, they should be from HP 1000 A990.
