Here are some very nice ones
If you have a planetary system you want to figure out the orbits of, or a couple black holes pass each other by and you want to know what happens, you need to calculate the gravitational forces on each object by every other object in the system, this is VERY complicated, and thus The University of Tokyo developed the GRAPE (Gravity Pipeline) processors
These are designed to calculate the forces (gravity usuall, but can be other forces) in a n-body system
Each of these boards contains 4 GRAPE-6 processor chips. Each chip contains 6 pipelines with around 60 floating point multipliers/adders in each one. (over 300 per chip, using 1.8 million gates)
The pipelines can act as 8 virtual pipelines (so 48 virtual pipelines per chip) This allows them to calculate 48 particles (planets, molecules, wormholes, whatever ya want) at a time.
They are a 0.25u Toshiba process running at 2.5V with a 90MHz clock, and can turn out 31 Gflops per chip (so 124Gflops per board), impressive even today but more so in 2000. A full GRAPE-6 system could do 32-48TFLOPS
A GRAPE-6 chip consumes about 13 W and provides 30 Gflops, compared to 95 W and 48 Gflops for 45 nm Xeon chips. GRAPE-6 is about five times more power efficient. Compared to the x86 processors of 1999, a GRAPE-6 chip was more than 20 times faster and more than 50 times more power efficient.
These come with the heatsink attached (I took mine off to make a nice pic)
$50 each _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

| Damn, I think I'm too late? I'd like one WITH heat sink, if there are any left, as my rocket is leaving on a solar system tour in only a few weeks! Don't know how I thought I could go without a GRAPE. Grape sodas won't do the job, I guess. |

Confused... are they called GRAPE-6s... or are there six of them for sale?
I'd like one w heat sink, if there's a 7th. |

Both lol, I had 6 GRAPE-6 processor modules, I have no more, but if I find more you will get one _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

| I probably should have claimed one as well, so if you come across more in the future I would be interested in one, no heatsink needed. |
