I recently acquired this chip:

The chip came has "MIL 8080A" handwritten on it, and I'm pretty sure it's 8080 processor. It has "299" stamped on the back. Anybody knows what is this or what manufacturer could produce it?

Frassl always says to try and hold it near a UV light, that should light up old markings.

Thanks, will check it under UV light. The pins of this chip are in very bad condition (25+ years in antistatic foam) so I can't test it in old PC even if I had one Sad

If I look at the package it looks a National Semicondictor.

Mats, do you have anything stamped or printed on the back of the chip?

Finally found the chip in one of the boxes.
On the back the printing is:

P-4798(C)/S

Thank you for information! Printing on the back of my chip is different. Nevertheless, your INS8080AD so far looks very similar to my chip.
